  • Student Organization: College Expectations for Behavior./01. Alcohol and Drugs./a. No members, collectively or individually, shall purchase for, serve to, or sell alcoholic beverages to any minor while on Organization Premises or during an Organization-Affiliated Event, in any situation sponsored or endorsed by the organization, or at any event an observer would associate with the organization. More specifically, the possession, sale, use or consumption of alcohol beverages must comply with any and all applicable laws of the state, province, country, city and College, and must comply with either BYOB Guidelines or Third Party Vendor Guidelines.

Sanctions:

  • Deferred Suspension effective December 19, 2019 through May 28, 2021 (Completed)
  • Loss of Privilege – prohibited from hosting events or gatherings with alcohol on or off campus – effective December 19, 2019 through December 22, 2020 (Completed)
  • TIPS Certification: throughout the duration of Deferred Suspension, any new members to the organization must become TIPS certified by May 28, 2021 (Completed)
  • The chapter will develop and present a scenario based risk management workshop related to alcohol and recognized student organizations. The workshop needs to include information regarding the following: (90% of chapter must be in attendance) (Completed)
    • utilize a minimum of 4 realistic scenarios to practice “What Would You Do?” in efforts with the chapter
    • Amnesty Policy and what to do (call, stay, cooperate/provide information)
    • Organization responsibility when at events that do not comply with BYO procedures/3rd Party Vendor
    • Proactive measures (when having mixers or other events that may be associated with the organization, how are we mitigating risk before the event?)
    • Plans for ensuring compliance with BYO
    • Plans for checking IDs and differentiating between 21 and under 21
    • Plan to monitor consumption
    • Group chat for each event with sober monitors, president, etc.
    • Expectations for house members where events are hosted
    • Safety – if a brother or guest shows up intoxicated, what to do if medical attention is necessary
    • Right to refuse entry including how to proceed when doing so
    • Bringing concerns to sober monitors’ attention
    • Conversation regarding expectations of off-campus members (risk when hosting events that can be associated with the organization)
    • Workshop needs an assessment upon completion to measure learning objectives

    • the Recognized Student Organization Rights and Responsibilities College Expectations for Behavior related to Alcohol
    • How to mitigate risk in off-campus houses where brothers have opted to live together
    • When an event or gathering may be associated with the organization regardless if he event/gathering was formally or informally planned
    • How to confront a brother who may be in violation of the College’s Expectations for Behavior related to Alcohol
    • The Amnesty Policy for concern for safety of a brother or guest at an event with alcohol present
    • 80% of the chapter must be in attendance
  • In conjunction with AEPi Headquarters:
    • Chapter must create Health and Safety protocols with assistance of HQ Staff, to be presented to a minimum of 90% of the chapter at a chapter meeting, by May 22, 2020 (Completed)
    • Chapter must complete an AEPi Health and Safety seminar presented by the chapter’s Educational Leadership Consultant with 90% of the chapter in attendance, by May 22, 2020 (Completed)
    • Chapter is required to complete GreekLifeEDU. Per expectations of your organization headquarters, paying the fine for non-completion is not an option and will result in further action). This is due by May 22, 20202. (Completed)
