Member Recruitment
OSI Initiatives OSI created the Get Involved Campaign which will allow our student organizations to make connections with incoming students and recruit new members. There are three components to the campaign:
- TCNJ ROAR App: Which will allow RSOs to promote their organization and events. Students will have a chance to follow organizations they are interested in. We will also be using Roar for contact tracing at events. We encourage all students to create accounts. Orgs should make sure their profile is complete and engaging so that prospective students become interested.
- Student Org Involvement Calculator: We have created something called the Student Org Involvement Calculator, which is a place interested students can list things they are interested in and we will create a report based on those things and what sort of opportunities and organizations exist for you at TCNJ. If the student is ok with us sharing that information we will share it with the groups.
- Create a booth for your org at the Virtual Student Involvement Fair: The Student Involvement Fair takes place in the fall and spring semester and is a great opportunity to get to interact one on one with our organizations to get to know them and figure out which might be the best one for you. This year’s Fall Involvement Fair may look a little different but mark you calendars for Wednesday, August 26. More details to come!
Other Recruitment Tips
- Be active on your social media. Develop a social media strategy for your organization. Brainstorm ideas on how you can engage your members through social media. What do you see on other accounts that you like? How can you adapt that for your organization?
- OSI would love to help your organization gain exposure on social media. Just tag @tcnjroar and we will share what your organization is up to!
- Use the #TCNJ and you post may show up on TCNJ Today
- Use Canva or another design application to create strong graphics. Canva allows you to create a free account and helps design graphics that will get peoples attention on social media.
- Do other Colleges in our area offer an organization similar to yours? If so, reach out to them and network to discuss how they are operating and get tips for recruitment and retention!
